The Rockies made a roster move Monday, trading Denver native Pierce Johnson to the Atlanta Braves for 2 right-handed pitching prospects, Victor Vodnik and Tanner Gordon. Johnson, who’d attended high school at Denver’s Faith Christian, is tied for 10th in the National League with 13 saves this season. He was 1 & 5 on the season, with an earned-run average of 6.
One of the Rockies’ best hitters, CJ Cron (krohn), is expected to gain trade interest from other teams in the next few days, along with several others who could go elsewhere. Another player who might interest other clubs at the trading deadline, Randall Grichuk (GRITCH-ihk), hit a 2-run double for Colorado against the Nationals Monday, then Nolan Jones hit his 9th homer of the season, a 2-run shot to center field, and the Rockies won 10 to 6 in DC.
