Bobcat Kitten Litter

A Boulder County wildlife rehab center now has some very cute, but still wild, unusual guests these days…

A litter of bobcat kittens was recently found in Louisville (LEWIS-ville), in need of care after being orphaned when their mother was hit and killed by a car.  The babies are estimated to be about 5 weeks old–  old enough to be done nursing, but not ready to fend for themselves.  The team at Greenwood Wildlife Rehab Center doesn’t want them to get too used to being around people, so they’re only interacting with the babies once a day, according to the center’s Amanda Manoa…

That’s what she and her team are looking for.  Unfortunately, the smallest of the 4 kittens died overnight Sunday, but the surviving 3 seem to be OK.  The rehabbers think there might be one more member of the litter still out near Louisville.  They’re looking to find that baby, then take the entire group to another rehab closer to the mountains.  Since 2009, the Greenwood facility has only seen 10 bobcats come to them.
