Last March, Fitzgerald had been driving those young kids home from Castle Rock Elementary School, when he later claimed to his bosses, they’d been refusing to sit down, so he decided to hit the brakes hard as he rolled up to a stop sign. Some of the kids hit their heads on seats in front of them, and some got off the bus in tears. Fitzgerald had been on that job less than a week, and told his superiors he was in his words, “an old-school guy”– before they fired him.
