Some of the Nuggets, or at least their future prospects, got together for a workout on the 4th, just a couple weeks after the club won its first NBA championship. Starting guard Jamal Murray couldn’t stay away, visiting the summer league practice for a 2nd straight day.
The Rockies were in Houston on the 4th… where starting pitcher Kyle Freeland gave up 4 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings. One of them was the first career homer by Houston’s Gray Kessinger. Colorado’s Chris Bryan hit one out for his first homer since May 7th, but the Rocks still lost, 4 to 1.
And we still don’t really think it’s a “sport,” but the yearly Nathan’s hot dog eating contest on New York’s Coney Island almost got rained out… but when it finally resumed, Joey Chestnut did it again— putting away 62 dogs to win the event for the 16th time.
