Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman appeared poised to win re-election last night, with 55% of the votes, to Democratic opponent Juan Marcano’s 38%. Coffman told some reporters he wants to get his proposal to give the office more power, back on the ballot sometime in the coming 2 years. He abandoned that idea earlier this year, after the public learned he’d secretly funded and organized that plan himself. Coffman’s proposal would’ve allowed Mayors to run for a 3rd term. When Coffman was first elected in 2019, it was a narrow win, in a 5-candidate race. Coffman finished that election night with an 8-percent lead over Omar Montgomery. He didn’t declare victory until 9 days after that vote.
