Historic Election

This year’s elections fell on a historic date for Colorado…

(First Suffrage in CO 1893                                        :21)

It was 130 years ago Tuesday, on November 7th, 1893, that this became the first state in the nation where women were allowed to vote.  It wasn’t all historic at the time, with most women of color still excluded, but in general it was still a momentous date, the move to many women getting their own ballots coming 27 years before the nation cleared the way to women’s suffrage, in 1920.
