Suzanne Morphew went missing on Mother’s Day, in May of 2020. Years of searching for her remains turned up nothing, until the past week, when investigators working on an unrelated case ran across her remains. They still won’t say exactly where the body was found, only that it was near the town of Moffat, in Saguache (suh-WATCH) County, about 45 minutes from where the Morphews had lived, just outside Salida (suh-LYE-duh). A lawyer for Barry Morphew released a statement last night, maintaining he’s not responsible for his wife’s death. It also says in these words, “what needs to be done instead of pointing fingers at Barry Morphew is asking the officials about the number of missing people and number of human remains that have been recovered in or from Saguache County in the recent past.” Prosecutors had charged Mr. Morphew with Suzanne’s murder, but dropped the charges last year, just over a week before his trial was to have begun. So far, there’ve been no new arrests in that case.
