(Record CO Hailstone vxr :26)
It’s official. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says a hailstone that fell in Yuma County on the northeastern plains last month, was in fact, a new state record. It had been part of a powerful thunderstorm that also spawned an EF-3 tornado. The hailstone measures 5 ¼ inches, the largest by diameter in Colorado history. There was another hailstone that came down in Bethune back in 2019 that holds the record by weight and circumference.
