The encampment at 8th and Logan near the state Capitol, across the street from the Governor’s Mansion is going to be cleared today, after the first phase of the new approach happened Monday, with buses arriving to take people living there to a hotel that’s been converted to a shelter. It’s all part of the promise made by Mayor Mike Johnston when he took office– his pledge to get people off the street and into housing. One woman at the camp told reporters that in her 4 years living on the street, it’s the first time she’s been treated so well by the city…

Denver called Monday “moving day.” Today there’ll be a more traditional sweep of the site, with a lot of folks’ belongings removed, and fences put up.
