(Plea Deals for Glass Killers :45)
Andrew Buen (BYOON) and Kyle Gould are accused of shooting Christian Glass to death last summer, after his car got stuck near Silver Plume, and Glass began having a mental health crisis. That’s when Buen broke his windshield, and shot Glass multiple times. Gould was off-site, watching Buen’s body cam stream. He gave the order to break the window. Buen could face decades in prison if convicted– Gould up to 3 years. Court records don’t spell out the terms of the deal being offered, but it is known they’re not final. The Glass killing led to the biggest police settlement in state history, awarding his parents 19 million dollars. It also required a number of reforms in Clear Creek, where Idaho Springs is located. Former Sheriff Rick Albers retired in July, amid nationwide criticism over the shooting. This week, candidates to replace him are being interviewed. The public will get to question them next week.
