After losing their first couple games of the season by only 1 and 2 points, the Broncos made it very clear Sunday just how bad at NFL football they are this year… almost the league’s worst ever…

The loss to the Miami Dolphins in Florida was historic, definitely not in a good way for Denver. The Broncos defense allowed the second-highest NFL point total ever, and got blown off the field 70 to 20. It was only the 4th time 70 points had been scored in a game in the more than a century the sport’s been played— and the all-time high was 72 by the former Washington Redskins in 1966. The Dolphins quickly scored 2 touchdowns early, and never looked back. They ended up with 10 touchdowns on 12 drives. The Broncos could only muster one TD of their own, and turned the ball over to Miami 3 times, but it seemed like more. Safety Kareem Jackson summarized it all…

After the worst loss in team history, many observers are calling for coaches to be fired and/or players to be traded as soon as today. Next Sunday, the Broncos are expected to visit the Bears in Chicago.
There are blowouts in pro football all the time, but then there’s what the Broncos had done to them on Sunday…

Going into it, there was some understanding of what Denver would be up against– the Broncos had been 1 & 8 in their last 9 trips to Miami, and they’d be facing one of this year’s best NFL offenses. But no observers expected a totally non-competitive Broncos defense. On the first 54-yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill in the game’s opening moments, there was no Bronco defender within 10 yards of the speedy Hill, and the die was cast. Later in the first quarter, Russell Wilson threw his own TD pass to Courtland Sutton to make the score 14-7, but that was as close as it would get. Miami’s offense got 4 touchdowns from running back Devon Achane (AY-chain), 4 more from Raheem Mostert (MOH-stert). The Dolphins ran up and the Bronco defense gave up 726 yards of offense, on the way to a final score of 70 to 20, 70 the most NFL points scored since Washington’s 72 back in 1966.
