Today, the final jury is expected to be seated for the first trial of those involved in the killing of Elijah McClain, to be followed by the first opening statements…
(McClain Trials Begin :34)
Elijah died 4 years ago last month, days after Aurora Police restrained him and paramedics injected him with a sedative. He’d been walking home from a convenience store, when someone had called 911 about someone who looked, in their words, “sketchy.” Officers then threw him to the ground and restrained him. McClain died in a hospital 3 days later, at age 23. The first 2 suspects to be tried will be suspended Aurora officer Randy Rodema (roh-DEE-muh), and fired officer Jason Rosenblatt. They’re accused of reckless manslaughter and 2nd-degree assault. When their trial ends, 2 former paramedics will face a jury, and finally another ex-officer will be tried.
