One family got some measure of justice Monday…
(Las Animas Fires Brutal Deputies :40)
The deputies who tasered a man multiple times during a rural Colorado traffic stop last November aren’t deputies anymore. The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office fired those men Monday. They had pulled over Nate Espinoza and his dad last year. Nate says he was pulled over for allegedly “driving too close” to the deputies’ cars. His dad, Ken, stopped his own truck a few feet away to wait for his son. The deputies told him to leave the scene. But then when he tried to, they suddenly ordered him to stop. Video from the moments that followed show them handcuffing him, and hitting him with the jolts of a taser multiple times. The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office recommended those former deputies’ firings, and called for a criminal probe of the incident. The Espinozas have filed a federal lawsuit against Las Animas County.
