It was the same score as last year’s season-opening loss, but overall there weren’t nearly enough differences, even with a new Super Bowl-winning coach on board, for Broncos fans Sunday…
Denver lost 17 to 16 again, this time at home to its hated rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders, to start the 2023 NFL campaign. It was also the Broncos’ 7th straight loss to the silver and black. A bit of good news for Denver was that quarterback Russell Wilson actually looked pretty good, completing 79% of his passes for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns, but unfortunately that wasn’t enough. The Broncos couldn’t stop Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garappolo (guh-RAHP-uh-low) from sliding to a first down in the closing seconds, so Denver never got the ball back to try for another score. New Coach Sean Payton tried to make things different, but it just didn’t quite go their way…
230911 S Payton- could’ve been better :09 Q:…was average…
Again the same score as Denver losing to the Seahawks in the opener a year ago, with the Broncos under 20 points, and they racked up 10 penalties Sunday, after running second in penalties in the entire NFL last season. Next weekend, the orange looks for its first win, hosting the Washington Commanders.
