The Detroit Lions used a lot of defense to upset the Broncos’ arch-rivals the Chiefs in the NFL season opener 21 to 20 last night, but of course the Super Bowl champion Chiefs are still favored to take the AFC West.  The Broncos say winning the division is their first goal, and the push to do it begins Sunday afternoon against the Raiders.

College football is suddenly very hot in Boulder after the new-look CU Buffs drilled TCU last weekend, and they host Nebraska tomorrow.  Tickets for that game are said to now be on average about a hundred dollars more expensive than those for any week 1 NFL game.  CU’s sold more than 400 thousand dollars in tickets since the TCU win, and its CSU and USC games sold out Thursday.
