The annual “Kids Count in Colorado” report shows the youth suicide rate statewide has hit a 9-year low, for “older” teens, young people ages 15 to 19. That total has now dropped by a third in the last few years. Many of those young people say they’re preparing for or going to college for the first time. She calls this latest “Kids In Colorado” document “promising,” and points out that CSU offers students resources to deal with moving away from home and to new classrooms, often before they’re needed.
TAG– CSU also partners with the Poudre (pooder) School District, getting more mental health experts into the local high schools, getting teens all the help they may need, even before the transition to college.
