College football got started for the fall last night, with the Number 2-ranked Division II School of Mines Orediggers, last year’s national runners-up, hosting Number 3 Grand Valley State. The Lakers came from way behind to tie in the closing seconds of the 4th quarter, but the Diggers marched downfield to prevail with a 41-yard field goal, the final Mines 31, Grand Valley State 28.
Northern Colorado didn’t look nearly as good, the Bears getting belted at Abilene Christian last night, 31 to 11.
Tomorrow, the CU Buffs under new “Coach Prime” Deion Sanders, open their season at Texas Christian.
