Relatives of the victims are using the word “finally,” as they learn that the alleged King Soopers shooter will be tried. Doctors have found the suspect is now competent to stand trial, more than 2 years since the shooting in Boulder left 10 people dead. In December 2021, months after the shooting, a judge had ruled the suspect not competent, based on the evaluations of doctors from the state mental hospital in Pueblo. There’d been many hearings since then, but no real change in his condition until this week. A judge still has to sign off on the newest evaluation before the trial is set. Victims’ family members, like Robert Olds who was the uncle of one of them, are cautiously optimistic…
