Some new Colorado laws take effect today…
(Two New Laws Today vxr :41)
Following this year’s legislative session, you now have to be at least 21 to buy a gun in Colorado. That doesn’t affect the age to possess one, only to purchase them. That’s one of 5 gun reforms Democratic lawmakers pushed through at the Capitol. The others include a new 3-day waiting period for those firearm purchases; a ban on so-called “ghost guns;” expansion of the state’s “red flag” law; and a repeal of the previous ban on gunfire victims suing the weapon’s manufacturers.
Also kicking in today— the state’s new “move over” law. It not only requires drivers to shift a lane away from emergency vehicles, but for any disabled car or truck on the side of a road. Failure to move over and/or slow down to 20 miles an hour below the speed limit will be a misdemeanor crime, carrying a potential 150-dollar fine and 3 points to be tacked onto your driver’s license.
