AGs Reject Settlement

Attorney General Phil Weiser (wiser) has joined 21 other AG’s from across the nation in asking a federal judge to reject a 10-billion dollar settlement…

It would’ve come from the big manufacturer 3M of Minnesota, after a suit in which it was found to have contaminated public drinking water supplies with the potentially dangerous chemicals that’ve gotten a lot of recent attention, P-FAS.  Weiser is clear on where he stands…

Weiser and his colleagues are calling on the judge to reject the settlement, saying it doesn’t give water suppliers enough time to determine how much money each would get, and whether that would be enough.  Colorado’s no stranger to the so-called “forever chemicals.”  A public health map shows high levels of P-FAS in a variety of places around the state, including military bases and areas near certain oil refineries…

Weiser says the state is still learning how much P-FAS chemicals are really out there, and just what their effects are.  Meanwhile, he says he and the other AG’s are trying to make their demands clear, that a bad deal is simply unacceptable.
