There’s expected to be a big travel issue along I-70 this week and next, just west of the Denver area…
(I-70 Blasting and Delays :35)
CDOT’s going to start some rock scaling and blasting in the Floyd Hill area today. That work’s expected to go on about 2 weeks, Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 3 pm. CDOT says expect at least 20-minute-long traffic delays at a time, and they could go as long as 45 minutes. There won’t be any detour routes in place, so be sure to plan ahead, and allow yourself some extra time. That project’s expected to improve an 8-mile stretch of I-70, adding a third westbound travel lane, a new Express Lane, from west of Evergreen to the eastern edge of Idaho Springs. Several bridges are going to be rebuilt due to wear and tear. Also, an on-ramp is going to be added from the US 6 interchange to the top of Floyd Hill.
