it could be a huge change, but with some familiarity, for the CU Buffs…
(CU Buffs Back to Big 12 vxr :31)
Observers and experts say it now appears likely Colorado will ditch the Pac-12 conference for its old league, the Big 12, maybe as soon as next year. A public meeting of the Board of Regents is set for today to discuss the potential switch. It’ll be the second meeting on the subject in 2 days. Rumors about CU potentially going back to the Big 12 have been circulating all summer. Those observers note that as Pac-12 media day passed by with no media deal made, it started to appear more certain Colorado was on its way out of that league. There’s also word that Wednesday, the Big 12 President and Chancellors voted unanimously to re-admit Colorado to the conference. CU was a founding member of the old Big 8, later the Big 12, and was a member for 63 years, before joining the Pac-12 in 2010. Leaving that conference would make Colorado the 3rd school to depart, following USC and UCLA, both of whom are joining what’s been the Big 10. If CU makes the switch, it would almost certainly happen next year. And Colorado could be just the first Pac-12 member to depart this week.
