Much of Colorado’s been feeling the big heat this summer, but there’ve been big storms too, and there were again Monday…
(Hot to Dangerous CO WX vxr :41)
Monday was Denver’s hottest day of the year so far, with a high of 98 degrees. Things cooled off considerably when the mile-high region’s latest wave of thunderstorms rolled through, however. Along with heavy showers, the storm brought plenty of thunder and dangerous lightning. Firefighters believe one of those lightning strikes may have started a small fire on the roof of an apartment building near Colfax and Detroit in Denver’s Congress Park neighborhood. Firefighters had that successfully controlled and put out by about 7 last evening. Today, gusty storms may be back along the front range, but the big thing is that forecasters have the southeastern quarter of the state, from Colorado Springs through Alamosa, Trinidad, Pueblo, Canon (canyon) City, Lamar, and Springfield, under a heat advisory. Exceptionally hot temperatures are expected across that wide region from about 10 this morning until 8 tonight.
