It’s a heads-up from the state, if you’re ever prone to your car sort of “wandering” over into those I-70 express lanes in the mountains when they’re technically closed to traffic…
(Express Lane Fines :28)
Starting today, what had been a warning becomes a fine. CDOT says in the last month, it’s issued more than 55 hundred warnings to drivers using the lanes when they were closed. The deal is, the lanes can only be open a certain number of days each year, according to the federal government. They’re not “actual” extra lanes of the interstate– they’re built into the shoulder. Drivers who use them when they’re closed, or weave in and out, can now get fined. Semi trucks, RV’s, and cars with trailers are never allowed in those lanes, anytime. The fines start at 75 dollars.
