A judge is going to let the town of Vail take over land that was originally meant for ski resort employee housing, and instead, save it for… sheep…
(Vail Land Controversy vxr :25)
For years, Vail has been trying to stop the resort from building employee housing on a 23-acre piece of land along I-70. The town argues that land is critical habitat for a bighorn sheep herd. Vail Resorts owns the property, and says the town doesn’t really care about those sheep– it’s just worried about neighbors opposing the new housing for its workers. An Eagle County Judge has now sided with the town, saying it can take over that property, if it pays the resort 12 million dollars for it.
