This week, a judge sentenced Haley Mill, after she pleaded guilty to vehicular assault and first-degree assault.  The crash happened a year ago this month, on Highway 40, between I-70 and Evergreen Parkway in Jefferson County.  Investigators say Mill passed a group of cyclists, hitting two of them.  Lisa Ludwig ended up in a hospital with multiple broken bones and a traumatic brain injury.  The other cyclist managed to avoid hospitalization.

At the yearly NHL Draft last night, the Avalanche picked up 2 first-round choices.  They got Calum Ritchie, a 6-foot-2 center and the team’s top choice, adding some depth at that position…

And with their second pick, the Avs got Mikhail Gulyayev  (mick-HYLE  gool-YIGH-ehv), a 5 foot 10 defenseman from the Russian junior leagues.  Colorado also traded its 2nd-round choice to Tampa Bay, to get veteran Ross Colton.

The newest voice on the trains at Denver International Airport is that of Nuggets Coach Michael Malone, now greeting travelers only a couple weeks after winning the team’s first NBA Championship.

The Rockies faced the Dodgers again at Coors Field last night, and looked like they were going down again after LA scored 6 unanswered runs, but then the home team rallied with 5 of their own, coming from behind to win, 9 to 8.
