There’d been a couple fall snowstorms in the state the last few weeks, and rain hit the front range overnight, but it looks like the latest snow in the mountains that fell late Sunday into early today really put the kibosh on many folks’ travel plans, or at least hampered them…
[New CO Snow vxr 31]
Meteorologists note there was quite a bit of snow coming down along I-70 in the mountains overnight, as well as snowfall occurring along the front range foothills, just west of I-25. Rain along that corridor was changing to all snow as temps continued to drop. Many forecasters say the Rampart Range, the Pikes Peak area, and parts of the southwestern mountains are getting additional snow accumulation, on top of the 3 to 8 inches many of those areas have already received. There are outlooks calling for 4 to 8 inches between Aspen and Gunnison… and another 4 to 8 near Lake City, with a new winter weather advisory posted overnight, that should be in effect until midday today.
