Monday, city council agreed to pay another 1 ½ million dollars to dozens of former demonstrators. Two more suits were settled, involving more than 35 protestors. Some say they were peacefully demonstrating, when officers used projectiles, pepper spray, and tear gas against them. Others say they unjustly spent multiple days in jail. The mile-high city has already paid out more than 9 million dollars in protest settlements. A jury has also ordered the city to pay 14 million, after an excessive-force suit went to trial. Denver is appealing that ruling.
