Mt. Blue Sky Signs

Although a 14-thousand-foot peak in Clear Creek County is now officially Mount Blue Sky instead of Mount Evans, some folks have expressed concern that signs directing people toward it on the highways haven’t been changed yet.  The state says that’s still to come…

All that signage still carries the name of former Governor John Evans, who resigned in 1865 after the Sand Creek Massacre killed numerous Native American women and children.  CDOT says it’ll still take a few months to make and install at least 17 signs it’s responsible for in the area that still say “Mount Evans.”  Tamara Rollison speaks for the transportation department…

Clear Creek County is also responsible for some signs that’ll take months to change.  The US Forest Service says it’ll need until 2025 to replace some of the signs it handles.
