After more than 3 years of searching, the skeletal remains of former Maysville resident Suzanne Morphew were identified Wednesday through the use of dental records.   Her body was found last Friday near Moffat, in Saguache (suh-WATCH) County, about 45 miles south of her home.  Widower and original murder suspect Barry Morphew issued a statement through his attorney saying he was with his daughters last night, and they’re heartbroken, having held out hope that Suzanne would return to them alive.  Morphew had initially been arrested for killing his wife, but was released only 9 days before his trial was due to start.  The charges were dismissed “without prejudice,” meaning they could be filed against Barry Morphew again.  He’d sued Chaffee (CHAY-fee) County, the CBI, and the FBI in May of this year for wrongfully accusing him, and was seeking 15 million dollars in damages.

The skeletal remains of missing Suzanne Morphew were discovered near Moffat, in Saguache (suh-WATCH) County last Friday, and positively identified through dental records Wednesday.  Suzanne had disappeared while on a mountain bike ride on Mother’s Day 2020, near her home about 45 miles north of where she was eventually found.  Her good friend Tisha Leewaye is at least partially relieved, but still looking for answers…

The skeletal remains of missing Chaffee (CHAY-fee) County woman Suzanne Morphew were found in nearby Saguache (suh-WATCH) County last Friday during an unrelated investigation, and positively identified through dental records Wednesday.  She’d disappeared on Mother’s Day 2020.  Her husband Barry was arrested a year later, and almost put on trial, but the charges were dismissed.  Denver legal analyst Scott Robinson says that means he could potentially be charged again…

DA Linda Stanley has been accused of misconduct for the near-prosecution of Barry Morphew.  He’s asked the state Supreme Court to look at what his lawyers claim was “unethical” behavior by Stanley.  Morphew is suing her, along with state and federal investigators, for his original arrest.
