Fall begins Saturday, and word is Colorado’s outdoor colors could be some of the most vibrant in years…
(Good Year for Leaf Viewing :34)
Arborists say the state’s aspen trees, that have that distinctively-shaped leaf that turns a bright golden yellow, are healthy this year, thanks to a perfect weather formula– slow snowmelt last spring, a cool summer, and sunny skies much of this month, September. They say healthy leaves often take longer to shed their summer green color, so the peak of gold in many areas may come a bit later this year, closer to the end of this month or early October. The tree scientists add that gold color to the aspen leaves should be extra vibrant this year, and last as long as 2 full weeks, as long as there isn’t anything unusual, like a sudden sharp freeze.
