The Broncos traded with the Saints this week to acquire placekicker Wil Lutz, which will reunite him with his former coach, Sean Payton. He didn’t play in the NFL at all in 2021. Lutz says he’s worked on his mental game, and feels he’s now ready to return to the league.
The UNC Bears of Greeley open their college football season tonight, after not having had a winning season since 2016. New Coach Ed Lamb says his Bears have what it takes to win this year. Lamb, who used to be a member of a rock band, says he’s never posted anything on social media. He arrived in Greeley from Brigham Young, where he was the assistant head coach. He’d been the head man at Southern Utah, winning 2 league championships there. Lamb says where the Buffs signed only 1 player from Colorado to a scholarship last year and the Rams got 2, he has 14 Bears on scholarship from inside the state.
The Rockies’ Kyle Freeland had a rough pitching night Wednesday and got pulled after giving up 6 runs. They started to come back a little but it wasn’t enough, and the Braves swept their series in Denver with a 7-3 win.
