Police were called to St. Francis Hospital just after 4:00, when staffers phoned with reports of the man holding that blade just outside the emergency room. Patrol Sergeant Blanca Rekar says officers responded and contacted that party, saying he was initially uncooperative. Rekar adds officers later learned that person had been taken to the hospital by a family member for being in crisis himself, after initially refusing to go. Officers further told Springs reporters they managed to detain the man without force. There were no injuries to him, or the officers on scene.
