That’s said to be prep work for improvements along the interstate between Evergreen and Idaho Springs, coming over the next 5 years. Cars are held at least 20 minutes, with no detours or alternate routes available. It’s not only a problem for drivers, but for local residents who haven’t been able to get onto the interstate as easily as they used to. The Clear Creek County Commissioners express sympathy for their residents, but they can’t do anything about the issue. They do urge folks to sign up for text alerts to have a better idea on the timing. Those are said to be available at CDOT’s website for that project.
