Multiple trees on the property were completely uprooted, or snapped off like twigs by the high winds. But while it was all going on, 16-year-old Kennedy got her 2 little brothers to the basement, and the 3 of them rode the storm out under the stairs, with their bike helmets on…

Their parents had been 27 miles east of home, visiting Grandma at the hospital in Wray after knee surgery. But they were on the phone with the kids the whole time, while watching the tornado live, on a stormchaser’s video stream.
TAG– The house and those 2 outbuildings are all believed to be total losses, and the family believes its main source of income, the corn crop, is gone too. But the family of 5’s all safe and sound, while figuring out what their next move will be.
TAG— Neighbors were stopping by all day Wednesday to make sure everyone was OK. The funnel was on the ground about 25 minutes, and with sustained winds of about 150 miles an hour, the storm was rated an EF-3, by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
