One northern Colorado police department has now fired the officer who put a woman in a patrol car, and left her to get hit by a train because the car had been parked on the tracks…

Ex-Officer Jordan Steinke is out of the Fort Lupton Police, a week after she was convicted by a judge of two misdemeanors– assault and endangerment. Steinke placed Yareni Rios in that squad car, handcuffed, while it was parked on the train tracks late last year. A freight train came through and smashed the car a short while later, and Rios survived that crash, but with several injuries. Fort Lupton Police announced Tuesday they’d let Steinke go. She’d been on unpaid leave in the wake of that incident, since last December. The officer from another department who’d parked that car on the tracks has also been relieved of duty by his department. He faces several misdemeanors linked to that incident.
