Just as forecast, the weather turned very stormy across much of Colorado from Monday into last night.
Heavy rain and hail hammered large portions of the state for hours last evening, with power knocked out in some places, roads flooded in others…

The high water was a big problem in Fort Collins, right near the CSU campus. Golden and Castle Rock on the front range saw some of the worst as well, Red Rocks Amphitheater put off a concert of 60’s music, and professional games by the Rockies and Rapids had to be delayed. Part of I-25 flooded just north of Castle Rock in Douglas County. The Sheriff there said floodwaters swallowed at least 4 cars on that community’s Monarch Road, but fortunately, no one was in them. Meteorologists say it’s all the state getting back to its normal monsoonal flow for this time of year, with slow-moving thunderstorms that feature flooding rain, large hail, and strong winds gusting up to 60 miles an hour. As a flood watch was in effect on much of northern Colorado until midnight last night, another has already been posted for noon today ‘til midnight tonight, as the forecasters look for it all to happen again, except with cooler temperatures.
