The historic proceeding will seek to answer the question of whether ex-President Donald Trump can be banned from running to regain that office, after fomenting the assault by many of his supporters on the White House, on January 6th of 2021. The suit’s been brought by multiple voters and a political group. Judges have resisted several attempts to get the case thrown out. The action centers on the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which bans candidates if they’ve been part of an insurrection. Trump is not expected to be in the courtroom, or even in the state, while that case is decided.
