After a 3 & 0 start on the road, the Avalanche had its home opener for the NHL season last night.  The Avs led 3-nothing after 2 periods, and ended up shutting the Chicago Blackhawks out, 4 to nothing.

The Orediggers of the Colorado School of Mines are the Number 1 football squad in NCAA Division II nationwide this week, under their 3rd head coach in 3 years, Pete Sterbick.  He’d been the offensive coordinator in Golden the last 4 years.  He says his club may not have played its best game yet. 

Legendary CU men’s basketball star of the late 50’s Burdie Haldorson passed away last week, but the university just made word of his death public Thursday.  His jersey number 22 was the first ever to be retired for the Buffs.  Burdie Haldorson, winner of 2 Olympic gold medals, was 89 years old.

And in their final NBA preseason game this year, the Nuggets shut down the Clippers in LA, 103 to 90.
