Williams Back in Uniform

Lots of Broncos fans have been wondering about when they’d get to see running back Javonte (juh-VAHN-tay) Williams back in uniform, after his season last year ended too soon when he tore an ACL.  Coach Sean Payton’s answer is this week, for at least a few plays…

Denver’s looking for lots of answers in Coach Payton’s first year, and after several losing seasons in a row now.  Already cut is kicker candidate Elliot Fry, who made a 55-yard field goal in Friday’s 1-point loss to the Cardinals.  Brett Maher missed another field goal and had one blocked, but he’s still on the team.  He’s said to have hit a 59-yarder in practice Tuesday.  This week, Denver plays Saturday, visiting the 49ers in San Francisco.

There’s still no word as to whether former Broncos coaches Mike Shanahan and Dan Reeves will make the Pro Football Hall of Fame, along with players like linebacker Randy Gradishar.  This year’s class will be announced next week.

The Rockies beat the Diamondbacks Monday, but lost Tuesday 8 to 5.  The Coors Field series wraps up today.
