A year after Colorado prosecutors could start charging drug dealers with more serious crimes, the first person to be charged under the new fentanyl law has reached a plea deal…
(Fentanyl Law Upgrade Case :32)
It’s a woman named Andrea Branco (bronco). She’s pleaded guilty to distribution of fentanyl resulting in death. Another woman, Kara Gorman, died of an overdose in her Fort Collins apartment almost a year ago. Police found a text message Gorman had sent Branco, asking to buy some “blues,” coded language for fentanyl pills. Gorman’s boyfriend later found her body. Prosecutors have charged Branco with felony drug distribution resulting in death, and drug possession. Court records showed her pleading guilty Thursday to the first charge, and a second was dismissed. She’ll be sentenced this fall to somewhere between 8 and 32 years in prison.
