Firefighters are making progress battling the Lowline Fire, burning in Gunnison County…
(Lowline Fire, SW Drought vxr :28)
The fire’s said to now be 55% contained. Firefighters say “red flag” conditions over the weekend put fire lines to the test, but crews were able to keep the blaze from growing too much. So far, the Lowline Fire has burned across almost 3 square miles.
And along with that, southwestern Colorado seems to be missing this year’s massive rains that have hammered the rest of the state. Places like Montrose, Alamosa, Lake City, and Ouray (you-RAY) are said to be experiencing some of their driest summers on record. Because of that weather, wildfire danger is on the rise in the southwest.
