Monday was Denver\u2019s hottest day of the year so far, with a high of 98 degrees. Things cooled off considerably when the mile-high region\u2019s latest wave of thunderstorms rolled through, however. Along with heavy showers, the storm brought plenty of thunder and dangerous lightning. Firefighters believe one of those lightning strikes may have started a small fire on the roof of an apartment building near Colfax and Detroit in Denver\u2019s Congress Park neighborhood. Firefighters had that successfully controlled and put out by about 7 last evening. Today, gusty storms may be back along the front range, but the big thing is that forecasters have the southeastern quarter of the state, from Colorado Springs through Alamosa, Trinidad, Pueblo, Canon (canyon) City, Lamar, and Springfield, under a heat advisory.
