That\u2019s because a freight train derailed over the weekend in Gilpin County. It happened a little before 7 Sunday morning, a few miles southeast of the town of Nederland (NEHD-uhr-land). Gilpin deputies say no one was injured, and there was no environmental risk from the damaged and destroyed train cars. Those Union Pacific tracks, however, are shared by freight trains and Amtrak\u2019s \u201cCalifornia Zephyr\u201d line. At least one Amtrak train heading east had to stay in Grand Junction after stopping there Sunday. Amtrak says it\u2019s lined up alternative transportation for its passengers. The Gilpin Sheriff\u2019s office says it\u2019ll probably be several days before train traffic\u2019s back to normal at the site of the derailment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
