Fremont County Sheriff\u2019s deputies have found human remains stored improperly at that facility in Penrose, east of Pueblo. Many locals are waiting to find out what happened to their late relatives\u2019 bodies, and how they\u2019ve been incorrectly stored. The Fremont Sheriff\u2019s office and the FBI aren\u2019t saying just whose remains have been mishandled. Neighbors say they\u2019ve noticed a smell recently, based on wind direction. That \u201cReturn to Nature\u201d location\u2019s license with the state expired last November. Its other location in Colorado Springs has an active license and no complaints, but still no one answered the phone or the door to reporters Thursday. \u201cReturn to Nature\u201d advertises so-called \u201cgreen\u201d burials, where bodies are not embalmed, and are sometimes interred in wicker caskets. That\u2019s all legal here\u2014 Colorado has some of the nation\u2019s fewest laws regulating funeral services, and is the only state that doesn\u2019t require licenses for funeral home workers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
