Red Flag Fire Warning

Most of the western half of the state’s under a red-flag fire warning today…

(Potential Fire Danger                                    :29)

That means conditions are so dry, dangerous scenarios have been created so that even a minor spark could turn into a devastating wildfire.  In Eagle County, Vail is one town in the warning area, but it’s not changing tonight’s fireworks plans.  Firefighters say the town will be launching its display from an even higher elevation than the town’s base, 8150 feet above sea level.  That’s up where the red flag warning doesn’t apply, and local officials say the brush up there hasn’t yet turned super dry yet.  Vail says it’s installing sprinklers around the launch site, just in case.
