Heat History

Wednesday was officially the hottest day of the year so far.  The Denver area got up to 99 degrees, and there was plenty more heat to go around…

(Hot CO Wx                                         :41)

Across the state, some places did creep up into the triple digits.  Overnight, a cool front came through, lowering temps a bit for today, but it’s still summertime.  Denver had hit 98 a couple times in July, and its record for the 16th was a hundred.  By this time last year, the Denver area had seen 51 days in the 90’s—  this year so far there’ve only been 21 of those days…All that spring rain actually seems to have kept things a bit cooler across the state so far in 2023.  The forecasters say northeastern Colorado should get a bit of a break today after a lot of communities were in triple-figures Wednesday, with highs down a bit to the 80’s to low 90’s.  The southeastern plains should also be in the low 90’s, but up in the mountains it’ll be relatively hot for them today, with highs in the 80’s and approaching 90.
